Michael Zavros (b. 1974) is one of Australia’s leading contemporary artists, known for his photorealist style of painting. Executed with flawless technical skill, his subjects often engage with themes of luxury, decadence and contemporary iconography. Zavros’ work is featured in the collections of the NGA in Canberra, AGNSW in Sydney, AGSA in Adelaide and QAGOMA in Brisbane. Rise from 2001 is a great example of the artist’s early work, which depicts formal business attire in Zavros’ signature photorealist style.
