SCOTT REDFORD: STAY FOREVER
A Secondary Eye, with the support of NAP Contemporary, is proud to present Stay Forever a mini-survey exhibition of artworks that spans three decades of Scott Redford’s career.
Scott Redford’s diverse body of work embodies a synthesis of regionalism, identity, abstraction and pop culture. Redford has exhibited widely in Australia and the very extensive literature on his practice, is an indication of the appeal his work has had to writers, critics and other artists. Notably his artwork is found in nearly every major state institution within Australia.
Throughout his career, he has grappled with questions of authenticity, representation, and the complexities of living in an era with multiple reference points of information. Often pulling from his own experiences and those of the communities surrounding him – most notably time spent on the Gold Coast. In addition to a very sophisticated engagement with critical art historical discourse, his work is very accessible as he utilises a visual language derived equally from abstract painting and pop/media culture.
