Secondary Market Art Specialists

A Secondary Eye was founded with the aim of developing the secondary market for art and collectibles in Australia. Initially based in Brisbane and now on Queen Street in Woollahra, we are a secondary market art gallery in Sydney that organises exhibitions alongside our core business of conducting private sales.

A Secondary Eye has handled works by some of Australia’s most important and sought-after artists including Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Gordon Bennett, Paddy Bedford, John Marwundjul, Ben Quilty, Howard Arkley, Sidney Nolan and Fred Williams, amongst many others. The gallery has placed works in important public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra; the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney; the Queensland Art Gallery / Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane; and the Home of the Arts in the Gold Coast.

A Secondary Eye

Secondary market art gallery in Sydney

A Secondary Eye was founded by Jesse-Jack De Deyne in 2020. Having spent time working at Maningrida Arts & Culture in Arnhem Land, and later taking up a role as an Australian Indigenous Art specialist at a major auction house in Melbourne, Jesse has a deep knowledge of First Nations art. During this time he was able to establish a network of significant buyers and collectors that allows him to have access to some of the best works available to the market.

In 2022, Boris Cornelissen joined A Secondary Eye, bringing with him a wealth of experience from the international art market having previously worked at Sotheby’s in London and Hong Kong as a deputy director and contemporary art specialist.
