Hector Jandany

(Warmun, 1923 – 2006)


Born in Warmun (Turkey Creek), Hector Jandany was an important artist from the East Kimberley Region who began painting for Waringarri Aboriginal Arts in Kununurra in the late 1980s, and later painted for the Warmun Arts Centre. His work was included in the important exhibition Images of Power: Aboriginal Art from the Kimberley at the NGV in 1993, and has been collected by Australia’s most important institutions.
