Dorothy Napangardi
(Warlpiri, circa 1950 – 2013)
Dorothy Napangardi is one of the most celebrated First Nations painters. She started painting in 1987, and in the early 2000s developed a style of white dot painting on black backgrounds that quickly brought her national fame. Her work is found in the most important museums in Australia, as well as institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
